Threading the Brother 1034D overlock/serger

I got my Brother 1034D overlocker/serger back in the spring and I’ve been having a blast with it. What an awesome tool!

One of the things that I’ve spent the most time on is learning how to thread it. Unfortunately, the resources that Brother sent with the machine are not that great – they’re low quality and don’t really show enough detail.

I have now found two videos that I think are incredibly helpful.

This is the first one I found while I was threading the machine with all of the packing material still surrounding me. I found it very useful also due to the tip of numbering/labeling the different threads on the machine. I’ve done this now, too – in fact, it was my excuse to go buy myself a label maker.

I really like this one because of how much attention is paid to threading the lower looper – that’s the one that I have the most trouble with.

Admittedly, I’m still having trouble with the lower looper – that’s the one that always seems to cause me problems after rethreading.
