Achievement unlocked: buy an album because you like the artwork

Buying vinyl is still pretty new to me, so I was excited to stop at Bengans, one of Stockholm’s record stores, after co-working in the city. I had my eye on the special transparent purple version of Rose City Band’s Garden Party – I like the laid-back sound.

And then I spotted this interesting cover in the discount bins:

It’s S.G. Goodman’s Teeth Marks. I had a quick listen using Spotify’s album preview feature and decided it was worth a chance. I’m enjoying it. So, new achievement unlocked: buy an album because you like the artwork.

The album had a “made in Canada” sticker on the back. I had a moment of relief when I remembered that records and vinyl predate geo-blocking.

A friend mentioned that he used to hold record parties: everyone buys a record (usually second-hand) and all of the records are played throughout the evening. That sounds like an awesome way to enjoy music.
